It is a known fact that Kerala has been hit by one of the worst floods in it’s history. It is the worst flood crisis since 1924. Homes have been displaced because of the non-stop floods. Relief materials are flowing in from other states. Even the army has helped in the relief and rescue operations.
CM of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, has announced that almost all of the Onam festivities of the government will be dropped and all the funds allocated for them will instead be utilized for the ongoing relief and rescue operations — as it’s not the right time to celebrate when a section of affected people in the state are still in distress because of the heavy rains.
This is indeed a good move and a wise decision by the CM. It is not a good thing to celebrate when the state is suffering. Instead the funds can be used to get the life of people back to normal
