Aboorva Ragangal: This film was breathtaking even back in those days. The film is about Prasanna who falls in love with the older Bhairavi while his father is drawn to Bhairavi’s daughter Ranjini . This film is inspired by the American film which was released in 1973. This was Rajinikanth’s first film.
Kalki : This film was about a mistress having a child out of wedlock. The mistress has a child and leaves it in the care of the first wife. It is basically a unique revenge tale based on three different relationships. The realization comes very late as Kalki walks off from his life to begin a new journey. The first wife gets the child while the husband has a change of heart after realizing that he has not been a good husband. Shruti, Prakash Raj, Geetha, Renuka, and Rahaman play pivotal roles.
Moondru Mudichu: This is again a unique revenge tale where Sri Devi marries Rajini’s Father to teach him a lesson. Two friends who are manifestations of good and evil fall in love with the same girl. Rajini and Kamal play the guys who are in love with Sri Devi. But Rajini kills off Kamal Hassan who has no idea about Rajini’s evil intention. But Sri Devi does nor let Rajini go, She enters his house as a stepmother to teach him a lesson. Sri Devi was only 13 years old when Moodru Mudichu happened yet the whole film revolved around her.
Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal: A famous singer is troubled by a nagging wife. A wife who is suspicious of his world outside the home. He seeks solace and comfort with another woman who has troubles of her own. Though the ending is conventional KB beautifully explores the triangle even back in those days.
Sindhu Bairavi : The plot of the film revolves around the three lead characters: a Carnatic singer J. K. Balaganapathi (JKB), his wife Bhairavi, and his girlfriend Sindhamani aka Sindhu. It was a perfect love triangle with a different twist. The film’s soul was music.
