96 Year Old Grandma Passed Her 4th Standard By Scoring 98 Out Of 100

Miracles do happen in real life and one such miracle is Karthyayini Amma who at the age of 96 has won the hearts of people of Kerala by studying at this age. In August she got full score in her reading test which was celebrated by the people of Kerala. The people of Kerala have been closely following her progress in studies. Once again she has shown the people that age is just a number. She was studying a course which was equivalent to 4th Standard. In the final exam of her course she has scored 98 out of 100.

She pursued this course under Kerala Literacy Mission’s Aksharalaksham scheme. We don’t even know if we will be active at that age but here we have 96 year old Karthyayini Amma who has pursued her dream steadfastly despite age barriers. This is a wonderful inspirational lessin for us to follow. She scored 30 on 30 in her reading test, 40 on 40 in Malayalam writing and 28 on 30 in Mathematics.

Karthyayini Amma is from Muttom in Cheppad village, Alappuzha., Karthyayini Amma began her schooling in January 2018 when the gram panchayat’s literacy mission brigade arrived at her home in Laksham Veedu Colony, a government housing scheme. Karthyayini Amma showed keen interest in studies for a long time. Over two years ago, her 60-year-old daughter, Ammini Amma, passed the literacy mission’s course, which is equivalent to Class 10 in the formal education system. This had inspired Karthyayini Amma to pursue the course. This is indeed an inspiration for all of us.
