As we all sulking slowly in our thoughts on Monday morning it turned to be a beautiful day for a 25 year old Anbu ruby. She became Tamilnadu’s first transgender staff nurse to be appointed to a government hospital.
On Monday Ms. Ruby received the appointment order from chief minister edapadi K. palaniswami along with several other staff nurses, village health nurses and laboratory technicians recruited through the medical service recruitment board.
A resident of Thothukudi Ms. Ruby had an ambitious dream to join Nursing. So that she could contribute to the transgender community and society in the future. After completing the B.sc Nursing from a private college in tirunelveli in 2016 she went to purse MBA in hospital management via distance education.
“I want to be an example for my community. Many of them should come out and achieve in their lives. I also want to serve society in whatever way I can. That is why I chose nursing” She says enthusiastically. After her father lost eyesight it was her mother who went to work. “My mother accepted me as I am and this was possible only with her help” she added. Now she aims to be a role model for her community and looking forward to create awareness as much she can.
