It is considered as one of the finest performance in Mohanlal’s career. Prakash Raj played Kalaingnar Karunanidhi in this cult classic. The film focused on the political careers of the two stalwarts and showcased both their personal friendship and political rivalary. The movie ends with the death of MGR. It got a national award for actor Prakash Raj even as Aishwarya Rai made an impressive debut. The film was directed by Mani Ratnam. Now another Mani Ratnam hero is all set to play MGR on screen.
Aravind Swamy who made an impressive debut with Mani Ratnam’s Roja is all set to play the role of the iconic actor cum politician MGR. Aravind Swamy recently had a blockbuster hit with Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. He stunned everyone as the badass Villain in Thani Oruvan. It is in fact one of the best villain roles ever played by a hero in Tamil Cinema. It will be interesting to see how he pulls off the role of MGR. But for now the excitement is sky high to see how it is different from Mohanlal’s portrayal in Iruvar.
Another exciting information is that STR aka Simbhu will be playing the role the role of legendary actor MR Radha. STR and Aravind Swamy have earlier worked in Mani Ratnam’s blockbuster hit Chekka Chivantha as rival brothers. The movie will be produced by Radhika Sarathkumar’s Raadan Media works. Radhika is M.R Radha’s daughter so it will be interesting to see how she portrays the relationship between MGR and M.R Radha in their real life. M.R Radha once shot MGR in real life. It will be directed by Ike who had directed Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thora. An official confirmation is awaited in this regard.
