A burst of flavours is what Biryani is. And, no food in this world can be compared to the wholesomeness the Biryani holds. The varieties and it’s uniqueness, never let you get bored of the taste. Here’s the list of 10 biryanis you could try out in India if you are a biryani lover.

1. Hyderabadi Biryani

Believed to be that Hyderabdi’s kitchen is where the soulful food originated during the period of Nizams, there are two types of Hyderabadi biryanis. ‘Pakki-Hyderabadi biryani’ involves cooking of basmati rice and meat separately and then infusing them together. ‘Kachi- Hyderabadi biryani involves placing raw marinated meat in between the layers of rice infused with dried fruits, saffron and onions. In both ways, the biryani is slow-cooked in a dough-sealed earthen pot over a charcoal fire. The result is a plateful of aromatic joy.

2. Calcutta Biryani

Calcutta biryani can be characterised by its subtle flavours, with a little touch of sweetness. It’s cooked with light yellow rice and layered with yogurt-based meat, potatoes and soft boiled eggs.

3. Lucknow Biryani

The method of cooking itself draws attention! Its cooking style is named as dum pukht. The meat infused with spices is partially cooked separately from rice. Meanwhile, the rice will be cooked with deep flavors Saffron, Star anise and cinnamon. Both the meat and rice are then layered together in a deep-bottomed-vessel named handi and cooked for hours until the flavors deeply penetrate.

4.Thalassery Biryani

This biryani is originated from Kerala. This has various versions to itself as diverse as their culture and groups. The biryani gives a punch of sweet and spice. The biryani is unique in a way that, it uses a variety of rice, for instance, Khyma or Jeerakasala instead of the traditional basmati rice, Also, the meat gravy and Khyma is cooked separately and mixed together only at the time of serving.

5. Sindhi Biryani

This dish is originated in Sindh, which is now a part of Pakistan. The Biryani is made from the fusion of different spices. Chopped chilies, mint, roasted spices, nuts, onions, coriander leaves, potatoes, plum, and dried fruits! All in just a single plate..

6. Bombay Biryani

This seet tangy biryani is worth a trip to Mumbai. It is composed of kewra water, meat, fried and spiced potatoes. Reach out to Mumbai to have a taste of this flavourful bomb.

7. Ambur Biryani

This delightful biryani is originated from Tamil Nadu. The way the meat is cooked is what separated it from the rest of the biryani variants. The meat is soaked in curd and flavored with coriander and meat. This marinated meat is then added to cooked Seeraga samba rice. Also, it’s served with brinjal curry.

8) Dindigul Biryani

This is an ever-popular dish that can be found at every-outlets across Chennai. The biryani carries a full-on zesty flavour with a lot of pepper added to it. It os composed of cube-sized meat and jeera samba rice.

9) Tahari Biryani

Tahari Biryani is not cooked only with veggies. This biryani consists of potatoes, carrots, and array of other species. This biryani was created for the vegetarian bookkeepers at the Mughal court. No meat, but this biryani is no less than a regular meaty biryani.

10) Kalyani Biryani

Kalyani Biryani is also known as ‘The poor man’s Hyderabad biryani’, It consists of chunks of buffalo meat and an array of species, coriander, and tomatoes.
