Badhaai Ho is one film which rightly captured the ups and downs of old age pregnancy in a comical manner. Ayushmann Khuranna played the hero while Sanya Malhotra played the heroine. The old couple was played by Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao and both were brilliant in their roles. Thankfully the film had a comical tone and it resonated with the masses. Badhaai Ho was one of the best films of last year and touched our hearts with a moving storyline. Now we have news that this popular film will be remade not just in one but all the major South Indian languages.
The South remake rights of the film is acquired by none other than Boney Kapoor who is the husband of late Sridevi. He is currently producing Nerkonda Parvai with Ajith which is a remake of Pink the courtroom drama which had Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee as the lead actors. In Tamil Shraddha Srinath reprises Taapsee’s role. The role proved to a wonderful breakthrough for Taapsee in Bollywood. Let’s hope the same thing happens to Shraddha in Tamil. Boney Kapoor has cleverly moved on from one good story to another as a producer with the Southern remake of Baadhai Ho.
Booney Kapoor’s idea is to bring Hindi cinema content to South by remaking good films. Looking at both his films so far he seems to be on the right track since both the subjects are universal concepts which will resonate with the audience. He also has an untitled film with Ajith which will start soon after Nerkonda Parvai. Not much is known about the film except the fact that it stars Thala Ajith again. It is going to be a back to back treat for Thala fans as they get to see back to back films with him as the hero.
