It is going to be CSK v MI in the final of the IPL once again. The two of the best teams in the IPL have made it to the final yet another time. Chennai Super Kings, after losing the Qualifier 1, needed a top-notch performance to get through the Delhi challenge. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, CSK bowlers were excellent as they picked up early wickets to add pressure on the Delhi team and Rishabh Pant.
After making 30-odd runs, Pant walked back as well. It was the little cameos of the tail-enders that helped Delhi to reach a competitive total of 147. While defending a tricky total, the team is in need of wickets and they should convert all the half-chances as well but Delhi had other ideas as they missed out an easy run-out, dropped a few catches and sloppy on the field as well. This, in a way, helped the CSK openers to spend more time on the middle and score 50-odd runs. This will come in handy as they go on to meet Mumbai in the final.
In the end, though Dhoni couldn’t finish the innings with six, the team marches through to another final. For Delhi Capitals, a team is relatively young and has a graph that is only rising, this IPL season is a pretty good learning phase and they will bounce back stronger the next year.
