The teaser of Thalaivi has released recently. It is said to be the first version of former chief minister Jayalalitha with Kangana Ranaut playing the lead. Now the film has run into problems. According to a report in Filmfare, in the month of November Jayalalithaa’s niece, J. Deepa had moved to the Madras High Court filing a lawsuit against the makers of the film. She stated that she is the legal heir of the late politician and that the makers of the film should have contacted her before making a film or a web series on her life. The makers of Kangana’s film have no legal rights to make a film on Jayalalithaa’s life which may affect her aunt’s and her family’s privacy. Deepa has also demanded that the entire script be submitted to her before the film goes on the floors.
On Tuesday, Madras High Court granted permission to Jaya’s niece to take legal action against director AL Vijay and producer Vishnu of the film. Also, a notice will be sent to Gautham Menon who is planning to make a web series on the life of Jayalalithaa. The web series has Ramya Krishnan in the lead role. This will release in an online platform.
