Game Over is a truly remarkable film. For starters the film marks Taapsee Pannu’s comeback to Tamil Cinema and what a premise to mark a return to her debut language. Let me warn you the film is not everyone’s cup of tea but if you are willing to invest your time it is a film which will grow on you. Life is often a game of chance. What will happen if you have only one chance to do or die. That is the premise of the film but the characters are set up so beautifully that once the action part begins you are totally hooked.
Pros : Taapsee makes a wonderful comeback and holds the film together along with Vinodhini who is mighty impressive and scores as an effortless performer. The two of them hold the film together on their own. When was the last time you had only two principle characters in a film ? But Ashwin Saravanan has absolute conviction to let the two of them take charge. The tension is visible throughout the film and there’s no letoff as we feel nervous too. That’s the director’s triumph. The BGM is haunting as well to keep us on the edge of our seats.
Cons : It has no minus but the lack of usual format might put off some of the audiences. But it’s a refreshing change for Tamil cinema so I had no issues.
Overall Summary : Game over is worth your time and your money. One of the best films of the year and a must watch.
My Rating : 115 /120
