It’s a proud moment for India today as Hima Das, a 19 years old Indian sprint runner from the state of Assam has won two gold medals in a row last week. This International 200 metres race was held in Polland. Hima Das who is nicknamed as ‘Dhing express’ and who had secured many titles in track and field participated in the Kuno athletics meet 2019.
It is to be noted that she was suffering from a back problem for the past few months. Yet she managed to win the second international gold with a top finish. She clocked 23.97 seconds and honoured with the gold medal. Also, VK Vismaya, another Indian sprint runner clinched silver having clocked 24.06 seconds.
Last year, Hima Das had bagged gold for finishing the 200m race in Poznan Athletics Grand Pix within 23.65 seconds. She also has a personal best record of 23.10 seconds which she clocked last year. Adding to India’s pride, under men category, Muhamad Anas clocked 21.18 seconds in a 200 metres race and secured the gold medal.
