Meena and Yasodha were walking back homes by the sides of the road. We are sure that they would not have expected such speeding motorcycles. Meena and Yasodha were hit by two motorcyclists who were indulging in Illegal Street Racing.
By law, we know that Street Racing of any sorts is banned in Tamil Nadu and offenders face some serious problems when they get caught. Actions like losing their driving licenses to the seizure of motorcycles.
These two motorcyclists have been racing from Alwar Thiru Nagar in Virugambakkam to the Marina Beach, a stretch that is 15 kms long.
Both were handed over to the cops and their bikes were seized. Meena and Yasodha, both were critical when they were admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital. Meena passed away in the hospital. Yasodha is still not out of the Intensive Care Unit.
While talking to the press, people who were at the Accident Spot and the relatives of the victims condemned the actions of such motorcyclists. Some even told that it is a common affair and most of these so called racers are teens who do not even own a driver’s license. Road Safety is always a thing to worry about for the people of India.
