India’s first ‘Garbage cafe’ is set to open in Chhattisgarh’s Ambikapur metropolis, the mayor has announced. As of today, we all know the negative effects of Plastics. It’s harmful to mankind as well as animal-kind. Recognizing its disadvantages, many states in India have banned the use of plastics. However, the usage of plastics cannot be completely eradicated, for the plastic has become one of our day-to-day necessities. There is plenty of plastic waste in the trash. There are also a lot of traders who take the plastic waste and sell it.
At the end of the day, due to the low-income those sellers receive, they are unable to meet their food needs. The Ambikapur Corporation of Chhattisgarh has taken a new initiative to help them. That is, a restaurant called ‘Garbage Cafe’ is set to open to provide food only for the poor and plastic waste dealers. Accordingly, those who bring one kilogram of plastic waste can take lunch, while those who bring half a kilogram of plastic waste may take breakfast. The restaurant will be set up at the city’s bus stand and Rs 5 lakh has been allocated for this, the mayor of the city said. He added that further arrangements are being made to provide them with shelter. This new decision by the corporation has received a great deal of popularity.
