The Delhi Capitals pacer and the current purple cap holder of the IPL 2019 Kagiso Rabada have been withdrawn from the IPL by the South African selectors keeping the World Cup in mind.
The 23-year-old missed the Delhi Capitals’ match against the Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. Cricket South Africa confirmed on Thursday to ESPNcricinfo that the scans were done on Rabada’s back.
Rabada, in his 12 matches, picked up 25 wickets and is the best bowler of the IPL so far. He has been the main cog of Delhi Capitals, the only man who cleaned out Andre Russell.
With no Rabada in the playoffs, the Delhi Capitals will find it difficult to put on a great show.
For South Africa, Rabada’s injury is an added worry as the team is suffering from injury concerns from three other pacers as well.
Lungi Ngidi (Side Strain) and Anrich Nortje (Shoulder) missed out IPL right from the start whereas Dale Steyn (Shoulder) who was picked as the replacement of Nathan Coulter-Nile in the Royal Challengers Bangalore team suffered Shoulder injury and was ruled out as well.
