The movie Jeans had a song ‘Adhisayame..’ and nobody can speak about Aishwarya Rai better. She really was/is the ‘8th wonder of the world’. Yes, I’m not joking. After winning the Miss World title, she became the standards to which we equated beauty. Such was Aishwarya Rai. More than everything, She is an excellent human who still makes us all go weak.
She, who wanted to be an architect gave up her studies a model and definitely, a decision she wouldn’t regret. If it was Liril advertisement for Preity Zinta, it was Pepsi commercial for Aishwarya Rai. ‘Hi, I’m Sanjana’, the dialogue she utters in the ad was going rounds, and people were already her fans.
Even before she won the Miss World title in 1994. Followed by her title, she received loads of movie offers as expected.
Her debut movie was Iruvar with Mani Ratnam and Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya in Hindi. Both earned her a name, but it was Shankar’s Jeans that gained her a lot of appreciation. From there on, she didn’t have to look back as the scripts kept coming in. She was choosy with her scripts and made sure the movie had a good role for her. Hum Dil de Chukke Sanam, Kandukondein Kandukondein, Devdas and some handful of movies gained her wider audiences, and she probably was the first “well known” actress from India to star in Hollywood movies. She also was among the jury panel of the Cannes film festival. She did have a lot of iconic movies to her name, yet her movie Jodhaa Akbar stands out.
If Iruvar started her career, Mani Ratnam’s Guru was the starting point of her fairytale love life. Yes, she had brutal breakups, but right from the beginning, it was with Abhishek that she felt that it would last. So, when Abhishek proposed her in New York, she knew he was the man she wanted to marry, and she eventually did. It was something you call it all “goals”. They have a beautiful daughter, Aaradhya who currently steals the attention from their parents.
Guess, she made a pact with the time as she never ages even after getting into the forties.
She definitely is not the perfect human. She had her own set of flaws, but the way she dealt and overcame everything makes her the pretty person she is now.
People come and go, stars come and go. No matter what, Aishwarya Rai and her legacy she left behind will stay forever.
