Every actor has his share of hits flops and missed movies. Sometimes actors let go of superhit scripts due to various reasons. Let’s look at the list of movies missed by Thalapathy Vijay.
Mudhalvan : Mudhalvan was originally written for Rajinikanth who refused because it was a CM subject. The next best choice was Thalapathy Vijay who also refused because of the political storyline. The movie eventually went to Shankar’s first film hero Arjun.
Dheena : It is difficult to imagine any other hero other than Thala Ajith in the role of Dheena but he wasn’t the first choice. The story was first narrated to Thalapathy Vijay who refused because A.R Murugadoss was a new director at that time. However the A. R Murugadoss – Vijay combo went on to do three films together namely Thuppaki, Kaththi and Sarkar.
Ullathai Allitha : This was a film which was supposed to star Vijay. But Sundar C did not have the habit of narrating scripts and Vijay never signs the dotted line without listening to scripts. This meant that Karthik came on board and Ullathai Allitha became one of the best comedies of all time. It is one of Sundar C’s best.
Autograph : Autograpbh is one of the best coming of age films in Tamil cinema. It is a formula which has never grown old. Even the Malayalam movies Premam and the recently released June were inspired by Premam. But interestingly the story was first written with Vijay in mind but none of the top heroes came on board so director Cheran himself became a hero.
Dhool : This was a Chiyaan Vikram special. But it was a movie which Dharani wanted to do with Vijay but Vijay refused. the Dharani – Vijay duo combined to give an all time blockbuster Ghilli which celebrated 15 years recently.
