The Maari combination is back with a sequel. The biggest surprise is Yuvan Shankar Raja. There’s no denying Yuvan’s legacy but Anirudh was in top form in the first part. Maari had very little to offer in terms of story but it was one of those movies which was mindless fun besides it was a success at the box office for Anirudh after a brief hiccup. Dhanush, Anirudh’s music. Robo Shankar and no-nonsense fun made it a good watch. Now the Maari team is back with the Maari sequel where Balaji Mohan reunites with Dhanush. Dhanush has just rediscovered his box office form with Vada Chennai.
Maari 2 boasts of a huge star cast comprising of Dhanush, Tovino Thomas, Krishna, Sai Pallavi, and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, This is indeed a grand step up when compared to the first film. The first look of Maari was released today. The swag of Dhanush is still intact with the moustache and the glasses. We have to wait and see whether Maari 2 is actually better than Maari or whether it falls flat like the other sequels which released recently. Both Saamy Square and Sandakozhi 2 did not live upto the aura of the first film. Let’s hope Maari 2 does better.
