Rocketry the Nambi effect has Madhavan donning the hat of the director. The film is based on the life of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. Nambi Narayanan is an aerospace engineer and a senior official at ISRO. He was in charge of the cryogenics division. He has also been awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Indian government. He was falsely accused. He was falsely charged with episonage and arrested in 1994. The CBI dismissed the charges in 1996 and he was declared not guilty by the supreme court of India in 1998. This is an interesting story of rise, fall and redemption which finds his way to the big screen.
Madhavan was not the original director of Rocketry the Nambi effect. Anant Mahadevan was the original director of the film but Madhavan took over as director due to date issues. This is a new feather in the cap of Madhavan who has shone as a director so far. Simran pairs with Madhavan as the female lead in the film. They had earlier paired up with Madhavan for the critically acclaimed Kannathil Muthamital and Parthaley Paravasam. This is their third film together. Music is by Sam CS. The story chronicles his graduate days at Princeton university before exploring his work and the false charges placed against him.
Now the buzz is that Suriya might play a cameo in the Tamil version of the film. Suriya and Madhavan had earlier teamed up in the critically acclaimed Ayutha Ezhuthu where Madhavan was the villain. That was 15 years ago in the Mani Ratnam film. Now the duo is back in Madhavan’s direction. In Hindi Shah Rukh khan plays the role played by Suriya in Tamil. This is indeed a story which needed to be told and it is good to see big stars combining for such an important film.
