Panaji: The Goa state government is planning to establish a new law to be followed prior to marriage. “According to the law, Before registering a marriage, the bride and groom should take up a mandatory HIV test”, says Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane in an interview with the reporters on Monday.
Furthermore, Vishwajit said that the Goa Law Department is conducting research to make the test mandatory in the coastal areas. As of now, the state law department has approved the idea. And, after the approval of the bill in the monsoon session of parliament, the practice will come into execution. It is to be noted that earlier in the year 2006, a similar law was proposed by Congress-led state. But, it was met with several oppositions.
