India with its ancient history and diverse cultural heritage has always been the talking point of history lovers over the ages for the untold secrets it hides.While some are simply baffling, others are next to unbelievable. Here’s a list of some of the mysteries unravelled in India that’s sure to blow your mind.

1)The alien rock paintings of Charama
When archaeologists discovered 10,000 year old paintings in a cave in Charama, Chattisgarh it opened a wide range of speculation on the existence of extra terrestrial beings.The figures painted on the cave walls depict humans with huge heads and no distinct facial features.These figures are even seen carrying a weapon of some kind.The locals living there believe that those paintings depict the ‘Rohela people’ who landed from the sky in round flying objects.An interesting fact is that even after 10,000 years these figures painted in natural colours still remain intact and have not faded.

2)The nine unknown men
There is a fable about a secret society formed by the great Mauryan emperor Ashoka consisting of 9 men,who are popularly referred to as ‘The Nine Unknown Men’.As the story goes the society was formed by Ashoka to preserve the valuable knowledge contained in nine books,alloted to these nine men who believed that if this fell into wrong hands the human race would suffer a great damage.Reference to these men are found in the books ‘The Morning of The Magicians’ and ‘The Nine Unknown men’.It is also believed that Poor Silvester 2 had met these men and some even believe the anonymity of number 9 comes from the tale of these men.

3)Mummy of Sangha Tenzin
The 1975 earthquake in a small town along the Indo-Tibet border in Himachal Pradesh uncovered an old tomb .When the tomb was excavated,it was discovered to be the mummified body of Buddhist monk Sangha Tenzin.An appalling aspect of this discovery is that the skin and hair on the mummy are still intact.Some believe it was because of the natural mummification process in which a monk starves himself to death and runs candles over his body to dry out the fat.However the mystery surrounding this still continues.

4)Ghost village of Kuldhara
About 20km west of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan is the abandoned village of Kuldhara often referred to as the ‘Ghost Village’.As the folklore goes 200 years ago the village was inhabited by Paliwal Brahmins.The then Diwan of Jaisalmer,Salim Singh known for his barbaric ways leived heavy taxes on the people and annoyed by his unjust ways it is believed that the villagers, about 1000 of them fled the place.Till now no one knows what happened to the villagers or there is no clue about the place they fled to.What remains of them is the curse they left behind and it is said that anyone who spends a night in the village will die a gory death.

5)The Bose mystery
Subhash Chandra Bose is name which evokes a sense of patriotism in every Indian and no one can forget that he is the founding father of the armed forces in India.But as fate would befall ,the nature of his death remains a mystery even now.While some believe he was killed in a plane crash in 1945 in Taipei,Tokyo not everyone seems to agree with it.Three committees were formed to investigate his death .While 2 of the 3 agreed his death by a plane crash theory,1 committee opposed the findings.The mystery surrounding his death has only intensified and no conclusion has been reached yet.
