There are a lot of movies releasing this weekend, especially in Tamil. Let’s look at them one by one.
Aan Devathai (Tamil): Aan Dhevathai is an Indian Tamil family drama film written and directed by Thamira. The film features Samuthirakani in the lead role, Ramya Pandian, Aranthangi Nisha, child artiste Monica, Kavin and Radharavi also in pivotal roles. Featuring music composed by Ghibran. It is about the struggles of a stay at home Dad. Very rarely do we see films about the struggles of a Dad who takes care of their home. This is one such rare film.
Aravinda Sametha (Telugu): Aravinda Sametha is an upcoming 2018 Telugu action film produced by S. Radha Krishna on Haarika & Hassine Creations banner and directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Pooja Hegde and Eesha Rebba in the lead roles Sunil, Naga Babu, Jagapathi Babu and Supriya Pathak in supporting roles. The music was composed by S. Thaman. Zee Telugu has bagged the satellite rights of the movie for a record sum of 23.5 crores which is the highest amount for an N. T. Rama Rao Jr. movie. It is a typical Trivikram film with Junior NTR in the film.
Helicopter Eela (Hindi): Helicopter Eela is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language film directed by Pradeep Sarkar. It features Kajol in the lead role as an aspiring singer and single mother and is written by Mitesh Shah and Anand Gandhi. It is based on the Gujarati play Beta, Kaagdo, written by Anand Gandhi. Kajol is back to Hindi after VIP 2 in Tamil. The trailers promise an empowering film, Let’s wait and watch.
A star is Born (English): A Star Is Born is a 2018 American musical romantic drama film produced and directed by Bradley Cooper (in his directorial debut) and written by Cooper, Eric Roth and Will Fetters. A remake of the 1937 film of the same name, it stars Cooper, Lady Gaga, Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle, and Sam Elliott, and follows a hard-drinking musician (Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer (Gaga). It marks the third American remake of the original 1937 film after the 1954 musical and the 1976 rock musical.
First Man (English): First Man is a 2018 American biographical drama film directed by Damien Chazelle and written by Josh Singer, based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James R. Hansen. The film stars Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong, alongside Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll, Ciarán Hinds, Christopher Abbott, Patrick Fugit, and Lukas Haas, and follows the years leading up to the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon in 1969. Steven Spielberg serves as an executive producer. It must be noted that Damien Chazellle directed last year’s La La Land as well.
