For someone who started out as Mani Ratnam’s assistant director Siddharth has actually come a long way as an actor. He began his acting career as a chocolate boy in Shankar’s Boys but slowly evolved into a meaningful actor. He could beautifully balance between being a lover boy to those meaningful roles which has got it him critical acclaim. He is a pan Indian artist and made a mark in Hindi as well with Aamir Khan’s Rang De Basanti. He is multi-facted and can sing as well. The famous Adada Adada song from Santhosh Subramaniam is sung by Siddharth.
Before Thani Oruvan Jayam Ravi made a mark in Tamil by remaking Siddarth’s superhit Telugu films in Tamil. Both Something Something and Santhosh Subramaniam were remakes of Siddarth’s films. He is adorable in love stories and can do a full fledged comedy as well. Sundar C’s Theeya Vela Seiyum Kumar is one such film. He was brilliant in films like Kaaviya Thalaivan , Enakkul Oruvan and Jigarthanda. He gave Tamil Cinema it’s first clean horror after an overdose of horror comedies through the movie Aval. For the work that he has done Siddharth is grossly underrated. Hopefully we see him in more meaningful roles. Happy birthday Siddharth.
