Arundhathi Bhattacharya : Arundhathi Bhattacharya holds the record for being the ‘First woman Chairperson’ of State Bank of India.Named as the 25 th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine,she had a career tenure of 36 years.Currently retired,she still plays the role of an advisor to many bankers.
Meenakshi Gurukkal: The story of Meenakshi Gurukkal ,fondly known as Meenakshi Amma is something totally out of the norms.At 76,she still trains around 150-160 students in Kalaripayattu,an traditional martial arts form of Kerala.She was honoured with Padma Shri in 2017.She is well-versed in using all the weapons ranging from stick to urumi,which even the experts find difficult to master.
Mary Kom: A household name by now,Mary Kom’s story is one of grit and determination.In 2018,she became the first Indian woman to win Gold at the Common Wealth games.Nicknamed as Magnificent Mary,she was the first Olympic boxer from Manipal.She also won bronze in the 2012 Olympics, becoming the only Indian woman to do so.At 35,with 3 kids she proves age and family is no bar to chase your dreams.
Indra Nooyi: Indra Nooyi,who retired as the Chairman of PepsiCo in 2018 is from our very own Chennai. Having been consistently ranked among the World’s 100 most powerful women,she holds a number of honorary degrees from all over the world,and rakes in a salary of 29.8 million USD per year!She served as the CEO of PepsiCo for 12 years(2006-2018) during which time the company’s sales grew by a whopping 80%, a feat solely achieved due to her brilliant branding strategies.Today,she stands as the nation’s pride, having put India on the world map and having paved the way for many to follow.
