It was around the time Thulladha Manamum Thullum released that Kerala saw it’s first glimpse of actor Vijay. It was the first film of Vijay to run 100 days in Kerala. His soft spoken avatar in the film ensured that the film earned a fan base for Vijay in Kerala. Since that point Vijay’s fanbase in Kerala has been growing in film after film. Except Puli all his films have created box office records in Kerala. Though there is a huge fan following for the stars in Kerala Vijay’s following is something very special. Very few actors have been able to break the language barrier and have a fan base. Vijay is one of them.
Now one MLA from Kerala has reaffirmed that Vijay has more fan base in Kerala than Mammootty and Mohanlal. Though this might seem like an exaggeration it is proof of Vijay’s growing popularity. PC George, the MLA from the Poonjar constituency in Kottayam district, has claimed that Thalapathy has more fan following than the current Mollywood superstars in Kerala. Naturally this has evoked angry reactions from die-hard fans of Mammootty and Mohanlal. It must be noted that Vijay acted with Mohanlal in Jilla. Though he might not be as iconic as Mammootty and Mohanlal there is no denying the fact that he has made a mark in Kerala.
Meanwhile Vijay has joined hands with Atlee for his next project. The project is produced by AGS. It must be noted that Archana Kalpathi the producer of Vijay 63 and Atlee are both a huge fan of Vijay so we can expect a through fan made entertainer from the Vijay 63 Team. Atlee, on the other hand, joins with Vijay for the third time. Both Theri and Mersal were blockbusters. Atlee knows how to present Vijay on screen. In both Theri and Mersal there were enough mass moments which were a treat for Vijay fans.
